Brian Hong B.Sc. BDS (Rand)
Principal Dentist

Brian originates from Johannesburg, South Africa, where he graduated with a B.Sc. degree in Microbiology in 1978, and a BDS degree in 1983 from the University of the Witwatersrand. He successfully owned and ran his own practices in Johannesburg for 16 years before moving to the UK in August 1999.
Since then he worked in a predominantly private dental practice in West Sussex before acquiring Cornerways in 2004. He has special interests in the fields of prosthodontics, including restorations on implants, aesthetic dentistry, orthodontics and occlusion and its role in headache resolution.
In his spare time, Brian is a very keen and competitive golfer and is a member at Worthing Golf Club.
Hennie Van Jaarsveld B.Ch.D, M.Ch.D (Pret)
Specialist Periodontist with a special interest in Implantology

Hennie was born in Rustenburg, South Africa. He qualified with his undergraduate degree from the University of Pretoria in 1979, going on to complete his postgraduate degree (with honours) in Oral Medicine and Periodontics in 1985. Since 1985 he worked in private practice in Pretoria and lectured part-time at the University of Pretoria. Since 1996 he has worked in the UK and Tanzania as a Specialist in Periodontics. In 2005 he was appointed Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has lectured and attended postgraduate training courses all over the world on periodontal and other dental subjects and has been the external examiner to the University of the Witwatersrand from 2001 to 2006. Hennie is registered as a Specialist Periodontist with the General Dental Council.
Hennie is married with two sons and two daughters and is a huge rugby fan, particularly of South African test rugby. His hobby is breeding miniature horses and has written several articles for the Miniature Horse Breeders Annual Magazine.
Marco Carugati Dip.Dent (Pisa)
Special interest in Orthodontics and Endodontics

Marco was born on the island of Elba, Italy. He graduated with a degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics from the University of Pisa, School of Dentistry in November 1997. Marco qualified as an orthodonist from the Centro Stu e Ricerche di Ortodonzia La Spezia in March 2004. In addition he has completed several postgraduate courses covering topics such as occlusion, endodontics and implantology. He has a special interest in endodontics, but likes to keep his hand in general dentistry wherever he can.
At present he consults in various practices in Kent and Sussex as well as in practices in Pisa and Milan. He also teaches and lectures at King’s College Dental Hospital in London.
His interests include travelling, music, skiing and computing.
Graham Bell BDS. Lond
Dentist

Graham qualified at Guys Hospital in 1980 and after working for various dentists, started his own practice in Horsham in 1986 where he practiced for 30 years. Since selling this practice, he has worked at several practices, part time. He is very familiar with private dentistry and all of its facets.
Graham is married to Sarah and between them have 5 children and 7 grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, swimming, the gym and walking.
Graham and Sarah love to travel and do various mission trips abroad mainly to Kenya where he provides dental care and Sarah provides reading glasses.
Dr Rex Yetton MRCS LRCP FRCA
Anaesthetist

Rex is a Fellow of The Royal College of Anaesthetists and has dedicated many years to the practice of sedation alongside his post at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, from which he has now retired. He regularly attends conferences on dental sedation and general anaesthetics.
Rex’s gentle, caring demeanour and immense experience are invaluable for our most nervous patients, who benefit greatly from intravenous sedation for treatments.
Away from practice, Rex is a keen sportsman and has previously played rugby at county level. He now enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, cycling and playing golf.
Rex lives in the pretty coastal town of Southwick with his wife and has three grown up children and two grandchildren.
Jenny Hong H.Dip. Pharm.
Practice Manager
Jenny qualified with a diploma in Pharmacy from the Witwatersrand Technikon in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1981. She sees to the day-to-day administrative aspects of the practice as well as being our friendly receptionist.
Jenny is a very keen and competitive golfer and is a member of Worthing Golf Club. She is married to Brian and they have a daughter and a son.
Katy Tidzer-Smith
Nurse / Receptionist

Katy qualified in 2001 with the National certificate in Dental Nursing, and furthered her career by gaining her Dental Radiography Certificate soon after.
Being registered on the General Dental Council she continues with training to keep up to date with latest dental developments and core subjects.
She now mostly works on the Reception / Admin team as well as in the clinical environment.
Katy also works at the Emergency Dental Service when she isn’t at Cornerways, managing the out of hours service for unregistered patients in pain.
Katy enjoys walking her cockapoo Bertie, and spending time with her 2 children in her spare time.
Nicky Hodson
Nurse

Nicky joined Cornerways in November 2022. She has previously worked in West Sussex as a locum nurse gaining her valid experience in different surgeries.
With 30 years as a qualified dental nurse and dental nurse assessor, Nicky enjoys all aspects for her role especially meeting new people and keeping up to date with current courses relevant to her job.
In her spare time Nicky enjoys spending time with her family, going to the theatre, and playing tennis.
Madina Bellamin
Nurse

Madina was born in Vietnam, educated in Canada and came to England for university in 1994. She joined the practice in 2020 and is a valuable member of our dental nursing team.
Committed to continuous learning, Madina is keen to broaden her knowledge of dentistry and undertake additional qualifications. Recognising the potential anxiety associated with dental visits, she approaches her work with kindness, gentleness, and consideration.
Beyond the dental office, Madina enjoys long country walks, learning golf, staying active in the gym, cooking and playing the piano. She is married with a son and a daughter.
Suzanne Harris
Hygienist

Suzanne qualified in 1999 from the Eastman Dental Hospital with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene, with continuing professional development an important part of her working life she has many extended duties to her her Hygiene role including fissure sealants, fluoride application, re-cementing crowns & inlays, local anaesthesia & tooth whitening!
Working at the maxillo-facial unit for a while in Chichester gained her some unique experiences.
Suzanne is married and has two daughters & two dogs, she enjoys keeping fit with swimming cycling and running and has a few marathons under her belt!
Mary-Louise Aldridge

Mary-Lou trained as a Dental Hygienist in the wonderful city of Edinburgh. After qualifying in 1992 she returned to her home town of Worthing West Sussex. She enjoys caravanning, travel, cooking and cross stitch.
Mary-Lou joined the Cornerways Team in August 2016.
Alison Fourniss

Alison graduated from the School of Hygiene at Bristol Dental School in 1994. She has been working in the West Sussex area for over 25 years in a number of different dental practices.
Having joined Mariner’s Point Dental Practice in 2019, she has quickly gained herself a reputation as a gentle but thorough practitioner. Alison’s passion is to help patients maintain a healthy smile. She has a particular interest in working closely with our dentists to treat preventable conditions such as gum disease.
Alison loves to travel to unusual destinations. So far, her favourite place in the world is the Himalayas and she has trekked to Everest Basecamp. One day, she would love to explore South America. She has a keen interest in learning Spanish, enjoys reading, keeping fit, country walks and
live music.
Gayle Espley CEB Dip DH
Hygienist

Gayle graduated from the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute in London and spent a few years living and working in both Jersey and Singapore.
Gayle is particularly enthusiastic about working with anxious patients and those that have avoided dental treatment for many years. She is a very experienced, accomplished hygienist with a laid back, bubbly personality that helps to put patients at ease.
Gayle lives with her son in Southwater and enjoys travel. When she is not at work she is usually busy planning her next trip abroad!
