Denscreen
With regard to antibody testing mentioned in the previous update, I am pleased to announce that we have teamed up with a newly formed group called Denscreen. More information and how their system works can be found at: https://denscreen.co.uk/about-denscreen
Denscreen are a partnership formed between leading dental and infectious disease experts. Primarily, they provide screening services which aim to tackle and minimise the risk of Coronavirus in the dental workplace. This is achieved by providing training for the staff here at Cornerways, a triage system for patients before they come in to the practice and then qualify that triage with an antibody test.
I have completed the Level 3 Denscreen training program and would like the rest of my team to complete the relevant level of training appropriate to their roles in the practice.
In the last few weeks, we have been telephoning our patients to assess their Covid-19 status before they come in for their appointments. Now with the Advance Triage Assistant (ATA) we can assess and categorise our patients by current infection status before they step in to the practice. We can now send a bespoke link to our patients pre appointment so that we can defer high risk patients and accept the medium and low risk patients for further assessment. Once completed, your answers are sent back to us and are stored in your patient record. The ATA scores the patient’s vulnerability and their dental need so that our clinical team are able to make highly informed risk decisions, remotely.
The antibody test forms the third leg of the Denscreen system. This qualifies the triage results by letting us know who has previously been infected by the virus. This information allows us to make far better informed decisions as to how best to handle a patient’s treatment. There are many other advantages to knowing your Covid-19 antibody status which can affect future lifestyle decisions affecting you and those close to you. We are hoping to be able to offer antibody testing by mid July. We estimate the cost of the test will be approximately £65.00. If you are interested in the antibody test, please indicate your interest in the ATA. Please note, antibody testing is a voluntary option and does not affect your current status here at Cornerways.
Aidan Curtis
Aiden Curtis has been a general dental practitioner in Findon Valley for several years. During lockdown, he made the sad decision not to continue his practice and take early retirement. He asked me if I would take over his patient’s dental care and I have accepted. We’d like to extend these patients a very warm welcome and assure them of the very best dental care with dignity and respect. We wish Aidan the very best for a restful and healthy retirement.
Extended hours:
In order to try catch up with our lockdown backlog, we have decided to open the practice from 8:00 am on certain days for the forseeable future or at least until we have eliminated the backlog. Hopefully we should be up to date within a few weeks.
In the meantime take very good care of yourselves. Stay safe, we’re not out of the woods just yet.
Regards,
Brian Hong
